5 great views from the Warburton Valley

Lindy Schneider

1. Seven Acre Rock – just a short walk into the forest off Bunyip Rd (past Yarra Junction), Seven Acre Rock is a vantage point like no other in the Warburton Valley. On a clear day you can see all the way to the city of Melbourne. Pack a picnic and enjoy the sunset.

2. Observation Tower at the summit of Mt Donna Buang – a picturesque drive from Warburton village to the summit of the mountain offers plenty of opportunities for taking in nature’s most delightful sights. Climb the Observation Tower at the summit and enjoy 360 degree views all the way to Port Phillip Bay, and across the Yarra Ranges in every direction.

3. On the Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail near Woori Yallock Creek – one of many sites along the Rail Trail offering sweeping views across the river flats towards the mountains. Vineyards, grazing animals and an expanse of quiet beauty that will take your breath away

4 The Gap – as you drive up Mt Donna Buang, take a moment to stop at the Lookout about half way up. You can enjoy terrific views of Warburton township and the surrounding valley landmarks, and follow the Yarra as it bends and weaves towards the city.

5. Dee Road carpark, Millgrove, on the O’Shannassey Aqueduct - the valley unfolds before your very eyes from this delightful place to picnic and discover the historic walking and riding trails of the aqueduct. A popular place for families and photographers.
